Schenectady’s Trees
Street trees, yard trees, and park trees make up Schenectady’s community forest. According to the 2022 Community Forest Management Plan, Schenectady has over 11,500 street and park trees that
- Clean and cool the air
- Provide protection from winter winds
- Reduce stormwater runoff
- Sequester carbon
The plan lays out recommendations to improve our community forest by
- Tree planting
- Routine pruning of street and park trees
- Training young trees
- Removing hazardous trees
ReTree Schenectady volunteers help by planting trees and advocating for tree stewardship.
